JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Tuesday, July 3, 2018) – The Corona Open J-Bay, Stop No. 6 on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), will continue today starting at 8:05 a.m. local time (SAST) with men’s Rounds 2 and 3 called ON for today. The elimination rounds will see the competitors take on solid four-to-six foot (1.2 – 1.8 metre) waves at Supertubes.
“We’ve woken up to great conditions this morning,” said WSL Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. “We will get started at 8:05 a.m. with the remaining ten heats of Round 2, followed by Round 3. We will run 35-minute heats today and really try to take advantage of this great swell that has continued to build from yesterday. The winds should also continue to cooperate and improve throughout the morning.”
The Corona Open J-Bay will be broadcast LIVE on the WSL’s Facebook page. Also, check local listings for coverage from the WSL’s broadcast partners.
Surfline, forecast partner of the WSL, is calling for:
Medium size, overlapping SW to SSW swells will move in Tuesday and Wednesday with generally favorable wind. A larger SW to SSW swell should build through Thursday afternoon before fading on Friday. A partially to heavily shadowed and modest size WSW/SW swell looks increasingly likely for the 8th-9th, although wind may be onshore.
